Take Tami Covington, a mother of two children, aged 11 and 7, for instance. She makes a living answering the phone. Of all you know, she may have booked your airplane ticket or perhaps helped you select flowers for that special someone.

But instead of working in a cubicle in a call centre, Tami is home as she solves queries and takes orders. Such a work life allows her to work while her kids are in school or at night. Believe it or not, but she is able to pull off a cool 35 hours every week for work.

Having worked full time at a call centre earlier, Tami finds her current work status “relaxing”. In her own words, “Call centres have a lot of background noise, but it’s quiet at home. So, it’s easier to concentrate.” Agreeing with her Antoinette Quaye who previously used to commute by bus to her consumer service job at a retail store. But since April, she has been answering the phone for flower agency only by staying at home and is “loving it”.
